Project Coordinator (Part Time, Fixed Term)
Fixed-term: Funding for this post is available in the first instance for 40 months from 1 October 2025, due to limited funding.
The McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research invites applications for a fixed-term, part-time (0.5 full time equivalent) Project Coordinator, generously supported by the Horizon Europe UKRI Underwrite ERC Advanced Research Grant LHEAAPS Landscape Historical Ecology and Archaeology of Ancient Pastoralists project (https://www.arch.cam.ac.uk/news/paul-lane-erc-award).
The post-holder will be employed on the, and will join the Cambridge-based team comprising the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Researcher and two PhD students. The post-holder will work closely with the Cambridge team, and especially the Project PI, to ensure that all the administrative needs of the project are met. The post-holder will also liaise with the project's Advisory Board and the wider team of research collaborators who are based in Cambridge and elsewhere in the UK, Kenya and United States of America, will also liaise with members of the Mapping Africa's Endangered Archaeological Sites and Monuments (MAEASaM: https://maeasam.org/) project, also based at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge.
The Project Coordinator role supports the successful implementation of the project and reports directly to the Principal Investigator.
Key responsibilities
The primary scope of the role is to support the achievement of the project's goals, in close collaboration with the Project Manager, Principal Investigator and all team members.
The successful candidate is expected to be educated to HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience. Previous experience in an administrative role is essential. The post-holder will be an experienced user of Microsoft Office, with excellent planning, organisational and team-working skills. Previous experience of working in a higher education setting is also essential.
