Research Assistant (Internal Applicants only) (Fixed Term)


We are seeking a motivated existing Research Assistant working within the University of Cambridge to work in a part-time role in the Primary Care Unit (PCU) of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care (DPHPC) on an exciting new research project funded by the Alliance for Early Detection of Cancer (ACED) on how to improve representation of minoritized groups in cancer early detection research.

The postholder will work with researchers and community engagement leads from the Universities of Cambridge and Manchester and OHSU to i) form links and stakeholder groups with new communities around Cambridge and Peterborough, ii) work with those new groups to implement and/or adapt the Research in Oregon Communities' Review System (ROCRS) process and implement a subset of the REPRESENT recommendations, using recruitment of women for breast cancer risk assessment as an exemplar study; and iii) formatively evaluate the application of the ROCRS process and REPRESENT recommendations in this context.

Applicants should have a degree in a relevant subject. Given the nature of the role, experience of working with under-served communities and developing relationships with members of the community in relation to research and conducting and analysing qualitative research is essential. Experience of research in primary care and community settings is desirable. Good organisational and project management skills are also essential, as well as strong communication skills in both academic writing and wider dissemination. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a standard Disclosure and Barring Service check.

The funds for this post are available from 01 September 2025 until 20 June 2026.

This is a part-time position for 0.4 FTE (2 days a week). Working pattern can be discussed.
