Finance Coordinator

The Finance Division is currently undertaking an ambitious multi-year transformation programme, introducing new systems and ways of working through to 2027 and beyond. This has led to a new opportunity for a Finance Coordinator within the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences for a period of two years. You will provide cover to enable subject matter experts to be assigned to transformation projects.

This role would suit someone with substantial experience in a senior finance management role in a similar environment, looking to apply their developed skillset to an exciting new project.

The Role

You will provide high level financial advice across your allocated area to contribute towards the planning, implementation, and management of departmental finances. You will provide account management services including overseeing the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts. You will be required to make an impact within your department by providing instruction on financial procedures, identifying required changes to processes and participation in committee and finance user group meetings.

Duties of the role will also involve:

  • Management of research grants
  • Preparation of annual financial submissions
  • Financial data analysis and advice
  • Provision of budgetary and planning advice to senior management

Your Skills

You will have:

  • Expert knowledge in financial and accounting practice
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience of Oracle Financials or similar accounting programme
  • Financial/Accounting AAT or equivalent qualification

Location

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role.

Funding for this post is available for two years in the first instance.
