Alumni Events Assistant [Temporary Cover]

This role sits within the Alumni & External Engagement team which is one of the primary external-facing departments within CJBS. The team's functions include Alumni Relations, Events, Development, Stewardship, and managing communications related to these areas. The role holder will support the delivery of the overall programme of events and the frontline delivery of all events organised by the department, with a particular focus on those organised for the alumni community, ensuring they are executed to an excellent standard. You will be the primary contact for event queries and manage event registrations, alongside coordinating catering and logistics for Alumni & External Engagement events, ensuring compliance with School policies and high service standards. Building strong relationships with facilities, catering and reception teams is essential and the role will also support other administrative tasks requested by senior members of the team.
We are seeking a proactive individual who thrives in customer-facing roles but keeps calm and efficient when working under pressure or managing competing and ever-changing deadlines. A good understanding of the University of Cambridge or the higher education environment is desirable however a working knowledge of event management principles and industry practices is essential. You will be an effective communicator who understand how to communicate with diplomacy and tact to people of all levels, and you will be a team player who is also able to work off their own initiative.
We are looking for an individual with excellent administration and organisational skills, time management and computer skills as they are essential for success in this role. This role includes occasional out-of-hours work on weekends and during evenings and the role will involve working at events where alcohol is served. This is a temporary cover role whilst the substantive role holder is on Secondment
Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 1 years or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
