Research Assistant in Mixed-Methods Primary Care Research (Part Time, Fixed Term)

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our Global Primary & Community Care team in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. The group represents a collaboration between the University of Cambridge and the East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), using global health thinking to address local health inequalities, and enable reciprocal learning between global and local contexts.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to all components of the group's programme but will be expected to i) map the range of primary and community health services across ELFT and identify key stakeholders working in maternal child health, ii) contribute to evidence synthesis on models of care for maternal and child health in low resource settings locally and globally, ii) support qualitative work with healthcare professionals and the public to identify key areas for intervention in current healthcare pathways that would impact greater health equity, iii) apply for ethical approval to conduct studies in the NHS, iv) contribute to grant writing and international collaborations, v) contribute to global health teaching.

Applicants should have the necessary subject matter knowledge in maternal child health, have completed a Masters level degree (or equivalent qualification) in an area related to global health research. Given the nature of the programme of research, it is essential that applicants have experience of conducting evidence synthesis, literature searching and writing for publication. Experience of conducting research within the NHS and global health settings is desirable, as is experience of qualitative research methods. Good organisational and project management skills are also essential, as well as strong communication skills in both academic writing and wider dissemination.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a standard Disclosure and Barring Service check.

The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.

This is a part-time position of 0.4 FTE. Working pattern can be discussed.
