Senior Collections Assistant (Centre for Material Culture), Fixed Term


The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology is seeking to appoint a Senior Collections Assistant (Centre for Material Culture). The role holder will promote and support Higher Education collections-based teaching at the MAA's Centre for Material Culture (CMC). From 2025 this facility provides an opportunity to enable collections access for a wide range of University courses. With the guidance of the Director and Curators, the role holder will establish and maintain connections with a range of academic departments. They will liaise with departmental staff to identify opportunities for teaching, support student access and assist with programming sessions. The role holder will work effectively with the wider MAA collections team as well as support MAA learning staff, including the Senior Education and Outreach Assistant (Centre for Material Culture), and others who work from this site.

The Museum is the second largest of the University of Cambridge's eight museums and is both a museum open to the general public and a research and teaching facility of the University. The Museum is open to the public Tuesdays to Sundays and welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children's barred list), a basic disclosure (criminal records check) security check and a health assessment.
