Research Assistant - Internal Candidates Only (Fixed Term)


Funded by the Health Foundation, The Healthcare Improvement Studies Institute (THIS Institute) has a remit to advance research into how to improve the quality and safety of patient care. The institute hosts around 50 staff, consisting of academics, operational and communications staff and visiting research fellows. It has strong links across University of Cambridge departments, with RAND Europe, a not-for-profit Cambridge-based research organisation, and with Homerton College, Cambridge, as well as with multiple external partners. The institute is generously funded by the Health Foundation, receiving around £40m over ten years.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant who will assist the research team in the collection and analysis of qualitative and/or quantitative data, in conducting literature reviews, in preparing data summaries and in contributing to writing-up of research findings. The successful candidate will work to support a range of research projects concerning the improvement of quality and safety in health care, improving the uptake and spread of good practice, and sustaining improvements in the way that care is delivered, as well as supporting the research infrastructure of THIS Institute.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in a relevant social or health science or related field or have equivalent qualifications or equivalent practical experience. They will have a good knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods and techniques, and excellent communication skills.

The funds for these posts are available until 31 March 2027

This is a full-time position but we welcome applications at part-time of no less than 0.8 FTE per week

Location - Department of Public Health and Primary Care, Strangeways Research Laboratory, Worts Causeway, Cambridge CB1 8RN (approx 2 miles south of city centre)
