Research Associate (Hannon Group) (Fixed Term)

The Hannon laboratory at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (part of the University of Cambridge) is seeking to hire a talented and motivated Research Associate for an exciting collaborative project with AstraZeneca. The post holder will develop and apply next generation lineage tracing technologies to study response and resistance to anti-cancer therapeutics within the AstraZeneca portfolio.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, creative and highly competent individual with relevant experience in cancer and molecular biology. Experience with animal models of cancer, knowledge of CRISPR-based platforms for manipulating genetics and gene expression, and exposure to single cell sequencing technologies are desirable but not essential.

The role holder will be expected to have significant experience and skills in cell biology techniques (e.g. cell culture, lentiviral transduction, flow cytometry) and molecular biology (e.g. cloning, library preparation). Experience with bioinformatics, such as analysis of scRNA-sequencing data, is desirable but a willingness to learn is essential. The role holder will be expected to carry out animal research as part of the project and, although experience with this is desirable, all relevant training will be given. The successful candidate should show initiative and independent thinking, possess excellent communication skills and work effectively as part of a team. This role is particularly suited to those interested in increasing their exposure to industry and will involve frequent interactions with colleagues at AstraZeneca.

Applicants should have or be due to obtain a PhD in a relevant discipline.

Please send applications in the following format: a CV; a publication record; the names and contact details of two academic referees; a cover letter explaining why you wish to be considered for this particular role, what you will bring to the project and listing your research experience to date

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 June 2027.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
