Assistant/Associate Professor in Information Systems

Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS), part of the University of Cambridge, is a world-class institution known for rigorous thinking and high-impact education. Since its founding in 1990, CJBS has built a strong reputation for transforming individuals, organisations, and society through research and teaching. Located at the centre of the Cambridge Cluster, Europe's leading technology entrepreneurship ecosystem, CJBS sits within an 800-year-old university yet embodies a modern, globally engaged business school. It was ranked 1st in the UK's 2021 Research Excellence Framework for business and management studies.

The Organisational Theory and Information Systems (OTIS) group at CJBS has developed a reputation for research that is rigorous, original, and consequential. Faculty regularly publish in leading journals such as Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Studies, and Journal of Management Studies. The group is actively engaged with regulators, practitioners, and the media.

We are seeking to recruit an Assistant or Associate Professor in Organisational Theory and Information Systems. Appointment may be with or without tenure, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will help enhance the group's global visibility through high-quality research, impactful publications, and the successful placement of PhD graduates in academic roles.

Applicants should have a strong track record of impactful research, demonstrated by publications or a robust pipeline of working papers, and experience teaching in business school programmes (MBA, EMBA, MPhil/PhD) or Executive Education.

While all areas of Organisational Theory and Information Systems will be considered, we particularly welcome candidates whose research and teaching focus on digital innovation, digital technology/AI, digital social innovation, digital/data governance, digital entrepreneurship, or digital health.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate, graduate, and post-experience levels. Teaching loads are relatively low by US and European standards to allow time for research. Responsibilities may include core and elective courses on the MBA, EMBA, MPhil/PhD, and undergraduate (tripos) programmes, along with project supervision and administrative duties.

The anticipated start date is 1 September 2026, or earlier if possible. A competitive package of benefits is offered.

Application requirements:

  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Job market paper
  • Cover letter explaining your interest in the post
  • Evidence of teaching performance
  • One-page statement specifying research interests and future plans

Please also provide the names and contact details of three referees via the online form. We will request references directly for longlisted candidates. Referees will be asked to comment specifically on the candidate's suitability for this role.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to visit Cambridge for a departmental visit, informal discussions with faculty, a presentation, and a formal interview.

We particularly welcome applications from female candidates and individuals from BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds, as these groups are currently underrepresented at this level within our department.

If you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply promptly. The closing date for this advertisement may be earlier than initially indicated should a number of suitably qualified candidates submit applications. We also reserve the right to extend the closing date, if necessary, until the position is filled.
