HR Manager
Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) leverages the power of academia for real world impact to transform individuals, organisations and society. Since 1990, Cambridge Judge has forged a reputation as a centre of rigorous thinking and high-impact transformative education, situated within one of the world's most prestigious research universities, and in the heart of the Cambridge Cluster, the most successful technology entrepreneurship cluster in Europe.
CJBS is seeking an exceptional HR Manager to join our Human Resources team. This is an exciting and rare opportunity following a recent internal promotion.
As a strategic partner to the school's leadership and a trusted source of expert HR guidance for staff and faculty, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a responsive, high-impact HR service across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of People, CJBS, you'll also deputise in their absence, contributing to high-level decisions and driving initiatives that support both the current and future ambitions of the school.
The role:
- Leading on key areas including recruitment and retention, employee relations, learning and development, performance management, and EDI.
- Working collaboratively with senior academic and professional services colleagues to embed consistent, fair, and effective HR practices.
- Shaping the School's culture by implementing people-focused, data-driven strategies that promote academic and operational excellence.
- Supporting the strategic direction of CJBS and acting as a liaison with the School of Technology and University-wide HR teams.
The ideal candidate:
- Degree-level education and CIPD Level 7 qualification.
- Substantial generalist HR experience, ideally within higher education or a similarly complex environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR systems, and experience managing sensitive and complex casework.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels.
- Strategic thinking paired with operational expertise and the confidence to act independently in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience of managing cultural or organisational change initiatives within a higher education context, and familiarity with University of Cambridge HR policies and processes would be advantageous.
This is a rare opportunity to lead, innovate and make a real difference within a dynamic, internationally respected academic institution. If you're passionate about delivering outstanding HR services and fostering a culture of inclusion and engagement, we look forward to hearing from you.
The interview process will consist of an assessment task and a panel interview. Those invited back to the second round will have the opportunity to meet with the CJBS HR team.
