Course Coordinator (Part Time, Fixed Term)


We are recruiting a Taught Course Co-ordinator and Administrator in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Cambridge. This is a new position in postgraduate education administration. The Course Co-ordinator will manage all aspects of the new Master's in Translating Medical Devices and Advanced Therapies Research and will develop the standard operating procedures for running taught courses in the department and develop the structures for ensuring quality in teaching and learning delivery, with the student experience at the heart of the work. They will be in charge of project managing key course activities:

  • Ensuring that all necessary student feedback is provided in a timely fashion.
  • Lectures/tutorials take place according to the timetable.
  • Contacting and paying all lecturers.
  • Examinations and marking are conducted in line with University Policies.
  • Making room bookings.
  • Marks collated for exam boards, and student feedback sought and collated for consideration for curriculum development.

The post will work closely with the Taught Course Chair, Course Directors, and Research Project Manager in a team. The post will provide crucial administration required for the operational day-to-day running of the MPhil course. There are expected to be between 16 and 24 students in one academic year, and the course intake will begin in September 2025.

The Course Co-ordinator will be the first port of call for all administrative matters, including financial administration (e.g., monitoring expenditure and reporting), maintaining the website and list of project supervisors (together with the Research Project Manager), and coordinating amongst academics teaching on the course. In the first year, the role will be primarily focused on setting up the course, coordinating with teaching staff and supervisors, and ensuring compliance with all relevant School and University-level regulations, as well as responding to prospective student queries. From the second year onwards, the role will also have a student-facing component, disseminating course information and handling programme enquiries on a regular basis, as well as managing formal administration, including examination and results.

The successful applicant will possess excellent organisational skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, alongside the ability to effectively prioritise conflicting demands and have good communication skills and work well in a team.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
