Programme, Communications and Training Manager (Fixed Term)


Applications are invited for the position of Programme, Communications and Training Manager for the Institute of Computing for Climate Science (ICCS). The ICCS is a collaborative project of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Cambridge Zero, and University Information Services at the University of Cambridge.

The ICCS applies the University's existing world-class expertise in climate sciences, computer science and data science to collaborate with the various international research teams from Schmidt Futures' Virtual Earth Systems Research Institute (VESRI) in addressing their specific computation and research software needs to advance their data-driven climate modelling.

The Programme, Communications and Training Manager will organise, manage and deliver activities for the ICCS. The role-holder will work independently and consult with the Academic Director, the Executive Programme Director, co-directors and the advisory board of ICCS where required. The post-holder will assist in developing a strategy and vision for ICCS, and in planning and delivering the implementation of that strategy. Developing and managing relationships with stakeholders within and outside the University is an important aspect of this role, as is taking an active role in communicating and promoting the activities of the Institute.

The successful candidate will have a good first degree or significant recent and relevant experience in the areas and activities covered by ICCS.

The role holder will have knowledge and experience of project and programme management methodologies and processes, as well as preparing and communicating complex scientific information to a diverse audience. Excellent IT skills and interpersonal and communication skills are also essential. Experience in creating impactful scientific communications and completing funding applications is also desirable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 December 2026 in the first instance.
