Research Assistant (Fixed Term)
A position exists for a Research Assistant to work on a project in many-body quantum dynamics led by Professor Zoran Hadzibabic. The successful candidate will be based in the Quantum Gases and Collective Phenomena group (http://www-amop.phy.cam.ac.uk/amop-zh/) in the Department of Physics. The project will focus on exploring universal features of far-from-equilibrium dynamics in homogeneous Bose gases, including phenomena relevant for the dynamics of the early Universe. The position will start in October 2023.
The successful candidate will hold (or be close to obtaining) a Masters-level degree or equivalent in Physics or a cognate subject and will have experience in experimental or theoretical work involving optics or ultracold atoms.
The successful candidate would be employed as a Research Assistant but will also be expected to have applied for admission as a PhD student with the University, subject to satisfying the University's admissions requirements for PhD study. The successful applicant will be eligible for the reduced staff fee for the University Composition Fee. Applicants will be considered for the start date of Michaelmas Term 2023. The candidate will also have the ability to write reports, present results and contribute to academic papers, have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and has experience of managing their own workload.
The post holder will be located at the Department of Physics, Cavendish Laboratory, JJ Thomson Avenue, Cambridge, CB3 0HE, UK.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 36 months in the first instance.
