Development Research and Due Diligence Specialist

Do you have a background in investigative journalism, copywriting or editorial work and are looking for a career change? We might have something perfect for you.

We are looking for two specialists to join our Development Research and Due Diligence team at Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations office, with one position being a full-time role and the other providing maternity cover.

What will you do?

You will undertake research to support and enable principal and major gift fundraising. This includes writing profiles and briefings summarising key information to inspire fundraising activity. You will undertake due diligence research and compile your findings to facilitate decisions about accepting donations to help the University mitigate reputational risk. You will also conduct proactive and responsive research to identify and refine knowledge about potential prospects, help to continue to grow our fundraising pipeline and maximise our fundraising efforts at Cambridge.

However, this post comes with a twist. We are keen to hire an individual with excellent writing and/or editorial skills to help our team refresh our current voice and how we communicate with our stakeholders. This is a perfect opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise and apply it in a new context whilst learning new skills and helping to make a difference.

Why will you fit?

If you write well, or edit well, and are inquisitive and creative, you will be a perfect candidate for this role. We would love to hear from you if you are looking for a new career path or want to make a difference in the world. We are also looking for someone who wants to be part of a supportive and collaborative team that likes working together to reach a common goal.

Where will you work?

The Development and Alumni Relations office has an outstanding track record of engaging Cambridge's global alumni community and securing philanthropic income for the Collegiate University, having just successfully completed our £2 billion campaign. We coordinate University-wide development campaigns and raise funds to support Schools, Faculties, Departments, and other central University institutions. We work closely with Cambridge's 31 Colleges and our sister office, Cambridge in America, to maximise alumni engagement and fundraising with our constituencies across the globe.

If you are still unsure, contact natalieburles@admin.cam.ac.uk and schedule an informational meeting. We would love to answer any questions you might have.

Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.
