Clinical Research Associate (Fixed Term)


Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Associate to work on a Brain Research UK funded project on traumatic vascular injury. This post is approximately 70% research within the PACE Section, Department of Medicine and 30% clinical sessions on the Neurosciences and Trauma Critical Care Unit.

This post offers unrivalled opportunity to undertake high quality research within an outstanding academic and clinical environment. PACE and NCCU have an international reputation for clinical and translational research, particularly in the areas of traumatic brain injury and neuroimaging.

There is emerging evidence that vascular injury is an important component of traumatic brain injury. This study will investigate early and late MRI in conjunction with blood biomarkers and novel measures of factors that may lead to coagulopathy which may be modifiable thought therapy in future clinical trials. The study represents a collaboration between investigators at the Universities of Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College London and Aalborg University Hospital, Denmark.

Applicants should be medically qualified, have full GMC registration. Applicants with a research interest in acute brain injury, neuroimaging, or traumatic coagulopathy and/or clinical interest in critical care medicine and its allied specialties are particularly welcome.

The opportunity may be available to undertake a MD or PhD degree during your employment subject to further funding being sought.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.

This is an integrated appointment between the University and the relevant NHS Trust/Body ("NHS Trust"). You will therefore also be issued with an Honorary Clinical Contract by the NHS Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated, and vice versa.
