Research Site Manager


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Site Manager to play an important role in supporting the department's research into obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders.

The primary role of this post is to manage all members of the field measurement team across the Wisbech and Ely testing sites and ensure the efficient running of the team so that they deliver a professional support service to include physical activity and anthropometric measurements, and collection of biological samples from volunteers whilst maintaining appropriate health and safety standards.

Additionally, the role will perform field measurement duties within the team when necessary and support the Field Epidemiology Manager based in Cambridge. They will liaise with the Senior Epidemiology Studies Manager and work closely with the research support teams (e.g. Study Coordination, Data Management, IT, Laboratory).

The MRC Epidemiology Unit is a department within the University of Cambridge's School of Clinical Medicine and is situated within the Institute of Metabolic Science on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Its mission is to study the genetic, developmental and environmental factors that cause obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders and develop strategies for their prevention. The Unit benefits from a number of large-scale, cross programme epidemiological studies with detailed datasets allowing a wide range of research from genetics to public health. Highly experienced information teams and other specialist teams support the scientists in the delivery of their research aims.

The successful candidate will have a degree in a relevant subject or be qualified through appropriate research experience. Applicants will have practical experience of managing or supervising staff, managing sites and equipment, and working on research studies or trials. They will have strong organisational and project management skills, be proactive and possess good time management and prioritisation skills. They will suitable IT experience with excellent communication skills particularly when working with members of the public.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with internationally leading researchers in a key supporting role.
