Research Study Assistant


Exciting opportunities have arisen for Research Study Assistants to play an important role in supporting the department's research into obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders. The primary role of this post is to work as part of a multi-disciplinary Field Team collecting physical activity, anthropometric, clinical and body composition measurements from adult and paediatric research study participants, for a number of studies including the Fenland Study. Multiple positions are available across our Cambridge, Ely and Wisbech testing facilities.

The MRC Epidemiology Unit is a department within the University of Cambridge's School of Clinical Medicine and is situated within the Institute of Metabolic Science on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Its mission is to study the genetic, developmental and environmental factors that cause obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders and develop strategies for their prevention. The Unit benefits from a number of large-scale, cross programme epidemiological studies with detailed datasets allowing a wide range of research from genetics to public health. Highly experienced information teams and other specialist teams support the scientists in the delivery of their research aims.

The successful candidates will have a degree in a relevant subject, or have GCSEs in Maths and English, A-Level in a Science related subject (or equivalent) and relevant practical experience. Applicants will have practical experience of Physical Activity, Anthropometric, Clinical, or Body Composition measurements. They have suitable IT experience with excellent communication skills particularly when working with members of the public. This is an excellent opportunity to work with internationally leading researchers in a key supporting role.

Fixed-term: 31 March 2025.
