The Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience are seeking to appoint an experienced, self-motivated and proactive administrator to join our professional services team in this friendly and busy department. This would suit someone seeking an interesting and varied administrative role, which is central to ensuring the smooth running of the Department, including the HR function.
The role holder will provide general administrative support for senior staff, including the Heads of Department, and undertake a range of HR-related tasks supporting staff and visitors to the Department. Other important aspects include helping with departmental events and communications, and supporting the work of key committees.
The successful candidate will be educated to HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience, and have previous administrative experience. Excellent planning and organisational skills are needed to manage diverse tasks and meet important deadlines, combined with a flexible approach to work to meet changing needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal efficiently and confidentially with enquiries are also pre-requisites for this role.
This role will provide excellent exposure for an administrator seeking broader development or for those seeking a start to a HR career touching on all aspects of the employment cycle.
The appointment is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, though we also welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working. There is an opportunity for some hybrid working in this role although the successful candidate will be expected to be in the office for the majority of time.
