Research Associate (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Department of Psychology, University of Cambridge, to work on a project with Dr. Amy L Milton. The successful candidate will conduct research into the effects of agents targeting dopamine receptors on cognition, motivation and effort relevant to mental health disorders including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression and schizophrenia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting rodent behavioural experiments, statistical analyses of the data, and preparation of the research for publication. Expertise in rodent behavioural work is essential; it is highly desirable that the appointee will have experience of rodent behavioural testing using operant equipment, and will hold a valid UK Home Office Personal Licence for rodent research.

The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a discipline such as behavioural neuroscience, psychopharmacology or psychology. Applications will be considered if a candidate is currently completing their PhD and has their viva examination scheduled within the next few weeks. There is an expectation that the candidate will have passed before taking up the post, ideally no later than the summer of 2022.

The post is based in central Cambridge and the position is available from 1st September 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records) check, an Occupational Health assessment and an enhanced security check. If not held already, the successful candidate will also need to undertake training for a UK Home Office Personal Licence.
