Europe's top cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, has combined with the University of Cambridge to fund the world class Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, situated on the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus in Cambridge.
As part of the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, the Institute's research ranges from basic cancer biology through translational cancer research to clinical application. The Institute currently houses over 350 researchers and support staff with 20 research groups and associated core facilities in a state-of-the-art research facility.
We are currently looking to recruit a Scientific Support Assistant to join the Laboratory Management team. You will be working with the Senior Scientific Support Assistant to provide a high standard of support to the Research Laboratories and Core Facilities at the CI, assisting with the management and distribution of laboratory core consumables that are required by the Research Labs. Additionally, you will be involved with the management of the supply and delivery of compressed gases, cryogens and solvents services throughout the Institute.
You should be self-motivated with good organisational skills, a basic science knowledge and experience working within a laboratory environment. Knowledge of cryogens and compressed gases would be an advantage but full training will be provided. The role will also involve a significant amount of manual handling such as the moving of large boxes, gas cylinders and laboratory furniture.
