Senior IT Infrastructure Lead - NIHR BioResource for Translational Research (Fixed Term)


Applications are invited for the key role of Senior IT Infrastructure Lead, overseeing the design, building and testing of NIHR BioResource's hybrid cloud infrastructure, which is key to delivering robust, secure and efficient IT operations.

As Senior IT Infrastructure Lead, you will be providing technical leadership and take responsibility for the design, delivery and continuous improvement of our IT infrastructure. You will also act as lead architect on infrastructure and related projects. This is an exciting opportunity to implement cutting edge networking, cloud, automation and security technologies in a fast-moving, multiple-stakeholder environment.

You will be experienced in designing, documenting and implementing innovative, reliable and scalable infrastructure solutions that work both as specified and as designed. You will be comfortable in both Linux and Windows environments, have expertise in automation and orchestration tools, a good understanding of networking principles and have experience of modern monitoring tools.

This appointment is full-time, 37 hours per week; part-time down to 80% will be considered. Work - life balance is important and we are open to discussion on flexible working, including an element of home working.

NIHR BioResource is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) as part of a 5-year funding cycle. The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2024 in the first instance. It is likely that the NIHR BioResource will continue to be funded by NIHR beyond this date, with an extension grant providing funding until 30 November 2024, with a further extension of 5 years dependent on available funding. Our offices are on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, CB2 0QQ (approximately 2 miles south of the city centre).
