Administrative Assistant

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology wishes to recruit a full time, permanent Administrative Assistant who will support the smooth running of key administrative functions within the Department, primarily assisting administrators, managers, and academic staff.

In particular, the post holder will assist the HR Administrator and HR Manager, Graduate Administrator, and Deputy Head (Research), by taking lead responsibility for particular aspects of HR, graduate administration, and research-related matters and procedures, also providing general assistance in these areas as may be required. The proportion of time the Administrative Assistant will provide support in each area will vary according to need.

The Administrative Assistant will provide cover on reception for breaks and lunchtime and at other times, as may be required. They will also provide ad hoc general administrative support to members of the Department (such as assisting with travel and accommodation arrangements, expense claims, arranging meetings, making room bookings, taking minutes, preparing documents).

The post holder is expected to take a proactive and flexible approach to their work and will have relevant administrative experience and excellent organisational skills. Experience of working within higher education in a related area would be an advantage.

The post is full-time, working 36.5 hours per week over 5 week days. However, there could be some degree of flexibility over the contractual times.
