Assistant Horticulturist (Tree's and Shrubs)

Reporting to the Team Leader (Garden Landscapes) the role holder is Assistant Horticulturist for the Trees and Shrubs section, in the Garden's horticultural team and is responsible for caring for that specific area of the Garden and its plant collections.

The role holder supports the Garden Landscapes team on the maintenance, care and curation of the trees and other wood collections. The tree collection is one of the finest in the East of England, of great heritage value and of international significance. The role includes the care and maintenance of associated herbaceous plantings and turf areas. There is also a requirement for occasional arboricultural work.

Excellent plantsmanship is required in this role to ensure that the collections are developed and maintained. The collections and areas within this role are popular with visitors and are an important resource for research and education purposes within the Garden, University and the wider botanical and horticultural community.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
