Information Security & Compliance Manager - NIHR BioResource for Translational Research (Fixed Term)


The NIHR BioResource is currently recruiting an Information Security & Compliance Manager to work in our growing Information Security (InfoSec) and Compliance function based in Cambridge.

NIHR BioResource is a unique and powerful resource for studying disease mechanisms and for investigating the links between genes, the environment, health and disease, enabling scientific discoveries as well as facilitating translational medicine for the benefit of patients.

As Information Security & Compliance Manager, you will have a high degree of responsibility for Information Security and Compliance processes at the NIHR BioResource. A large part of the role consists of working on the NHS Data Security & Protection Toolkit, now aligned to the NCSC Cyber Essentials standard.

Your duties will include:

  • Information Security - Best practice / Security Operations / Incident Response
  • Audit & Compliance - Overseeing NHS DSP Toolkit / Cyber Essentials Plus / ISO 27001
  • Communication & Policy - User Awareness / Policy Creation / Phishing Simulation Exercises

Your experience should include:

  • NHS Data Security & Protection (DSP) Toolkit / Cyber Essentials compliance
  • Working in the healthcare / life sciences / research environment, handling sensitive data
  • Using a mixture of in-house, vendor-supplied and public cloud services

This appointment is full-time, 37 hours per week; part-time to 80% will be considered. Work - life balance is important, and we are open to discussion on flexible working, including an element of home working.

NIHR BioResource is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) as part of a 5-year funding cycle. The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2024 in the first instance. It is likely that the NIHR BioResource will continue to be funded by NIHR beyond this date, with an extension grant providing funding until 30 November 2024, with a further extension of 5 years dependent on available funding. Our offices are on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, CB2 0QQ (approximately 2 miles south of the city centre).
