Research Development Advisor (Fixed Term)

At Cambridge, we are significantly investing in our support for research development. We have a challenging, interesting and rewarding maternity cover position within the Physical Sciences Research Development Team.

The University of Cambridge is one of the world's top research establishments. Fundamental to its continued success in world-leading research and in securing funding is the role of the University's Research Office. The Office provides strategic and operational research support, working closely with our Pro-Vice-Chancellors, and in partnership with our academic staff to secure and manage funding from external organisations globally, nationally and regionally. We submit approximately 3,000 applications each year with a value of £1.2bn and manage approximately 1,400 new awards. In additional the Office puts in place almost 5,000 research agreements. We are a team of over 110 people and are the central administrative hub for research activities at the University.

We are looking for a proactive individual, with excellent written, numerical and communication skills, who will support pre-award administration within the School of Physical Sciences . As part of the Research Operations Office, working alongside departments and academics, other Research Development posts, the Research Development Advisor will proactively, cost, draft and submit research grant applications. A solid experience of research support, preferably in a University setting is essential.

To succeed in this role you will have excellent communication, financial and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise credibly with academic colleagues and researchers and external contacts. Diplomacy and tact are essential along with an ability to independently organise and prioritise your workload.

Fixed-term: This post is available for 1 year in or the return of the substantive post holder whichever is the soonest.
