Programme Assistant [Temporary Cover] (Part Time)


Kettle's Yard is the University of Cambridge's modern and contemporary art gallery. It is a beautiful house with a remarkable collection of modern art and a gallery that presents a diverse programme of modern and contemporary art exhibitions. It has an international reputation for its activities, which also include music and an extensive programme of learning and community activities. In 2015 Kettle's Yard closed for a major building project and re-opened in early 2018 with extended galleries, a new Education wing, and improved visitors' services.

The Programme Assistant is a crucial member of the organisation whose role is to support the administration and organisation of an integrated programme to ensure that this can operate at the highest levels of excellence and ambition. Kettle's Yard's programme includes exhibitions, public programmes, learning, research, residencies, and music.

The Assistant's primary focus is administrative and organisational ¿ supporting the effective running of the department through the excellent administration of the programme. The Assistant will work closely with the Programme team on the administration and delivery of exhibitions and events programmes.

You will be an experienced administrator with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. The ability to work in a team as well as independently along with a flexible and adaptable approach to work is required. You will provide a key service to members of staff, and external artists. Experience of working in a museum/art gallery environment would be desirable You will have excellent IT skills and be proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook.

The successful candidate will have a pro-active approach to troubleshooting and problem solving. And the ability to work under pressure. Attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and effective time management are essential.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months in the first instance.

The post is for 22 hours per week with working pattern to be agreed at appointment.
