An opportunity has arisen for motivated Service Area Support Technician to join our small, friendly team within a busy Biofacility in South Cambridge.
The Service Support Area maintains the essential provision of clean cages and equipment, consumables and other stores stock, as well as portering of necessary caging, equipment and stock throughout the building, to meet the requirements of staff and research users of the facility.
After initial training you will be able to operate simple machinery in order to prepare, clean, sterilise and maintain animal caging and associated equipment. You will be responsible for the in-house cleaning of cages and tasks involved with ensuring the throughput of clean caging, equipment and consumable items to meet the daily needs of the facility. You will provide a portering service assisting the Stores Team with processing of orders and movement of necessary caging, equipment and consumable items to areas of the facility.
You will also support the Building Service Team with maintenance of the building and facilities whilst supervised. You will also contribute to general cleaning of the service areas which includes storage and disposal of all waste materials.
The post will involve lifting and manual handling for which training will be given. Additionally the role may involve driving the Store Team van to support in house deliveries for which a full UK driving licence will be required.
The successful candidate will be a motivated team player with good communication skills, literate, numerate and basic IT literacy are important. You will have good attention to detail, able to work in a clean and organised way, able to manage your own time and workload. Previous experience working with industrial cagewash / autoclave equipment, in a stores environment or in a biomedical animal facility are also desirable.
