An opportunity has arisen for motivated Service Technician to join our small, friendly team within a busy Biofacility in West Cambridge.
The Service Technician maintains the essential provision of clean cages and equipment, consumables and other stores stock, as well as portering of necessary caging, equipment and stock throughout the building, to meet the requirements of staff, and research users of the facility.
After initial training you will be able to operate simple machinery in order to prepare, clean, sterilise and maintain animal caging and associated equipment. You will be responsible for the in-house cleaning of cages and tasks involved with ensuring the throughput of clean caging, equipment and consumable items to meet the daily needs of the facility. You will also support the technicians in other duties including general cleaning of the facility, collection and delivery of PPE, maintaining stocks and disposal of waste. The will involve some lifting and manual handling for which training will be given.
The successful candidate will be a motivated team player with good communication skills, literate, numerate and basic IT literacy are important. You will have good attention to detail, able to work in a clean and organised way, able to manage your own time and workload. Previous experience working with industrial cagewash / autoclave equipment, or in a biomedical animal facility are also desirable.
