We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate in Power Electronics to join The Long Group (https://tenglong.eng.cam.ac.uk/) led by Dr Teng Long in the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge.
The post holder will be working on applying advanced technologies for high power density and high efficiency power electronics. The research will investigate power module design and packaging, gate drives, modulation techniques, and high frequency magnetic components. In particular, research on high speed WBG power semiconductors and their challenges in protection, EMI/EMC, and parasitic control is expected. Prototypes (less than 1kV, 200kW) will be built and tested. The post holder will also assist the Principal Investigator in supervising PhD students and preparing research proposals.
The successful applicant must have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD degree; experience with sufficient breadth/depth of specialist knowledge in power electronics such as gate drives, PWM, converter topologies, power semiconductors, and high frequency inductive and capacitive components. The stakeholder also needs to show advanced skills and extensive experience in circuit modelling, FEA, multi-layer and high frequency PCB design, impedance measurement and high power high frequency converter prototyping and testing. A strong publication record of outstanding research, excellent communication skills, experience of managing own workload are essential. Knowledge in power semiconductor packaging, materials and fabrication process would be welcomed but not essential.
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: Research Assistant: £26,715 - £30,942; Research Associate: £32,816 - £40,322
