Based in central Cambridge, the Head of Digital Learning will play a pivotal part in the ongoing development of the School's strategic approach to technology enhanced learning across all courses/programmes. We are looking for an experienced leader with extensive knowledge about university-level teaching and learning. The role holder will have developed, promoted, delivered, and measured successful institution-wide programmes of activity, engaging faculty and multiple stakeholders across complex institutions. Working closely with colleagues in the School, the Head of Digital Learning will lead on the implementation of the School's Digital Learning strategy in line with operational goals. The role holder will provide staff with guidance and training, encouraging innovation and use technology to its full potential. The role holder must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience with modern pedagogic practices and curriculum design in support of synchronous and asynchronous learning. The role holder will take a proactive approach to continuous improvement, evaluating the effectiveness of the department's digital learning platform and pedagogical processes.
Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject or a related discipline, the ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of pedagogical learning and understanding of current and emerging issues, trends and commercial opportunities in digital learning and/or higher education. We are looking for an individual who is results-driven, well organised with a high degree of initiative and ability to plan and have proven experience of managing teams of 5+ people. The successful candidate needs to have a proven record of working effectively with other stakeholders and being able to operationalise activities, particularly through periods of change and organisational growth.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite for this role along with the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships at all levels (with both academic and non-academic colleagues as well as commercial partners and clients). The successful candidate must be able to keep abreast of development in digital pedagogy and business management education, be creative with an enthusiasm for innovation, and have a flexible approach to working hours as required.
