The Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre (CRUK CC) Ovarian Programme is seeking to recruit a part-time (0.5 FTE) Research Nurse. This is an exciting position focusing on translational research and clinical trials in ovarian cancer. The Research Nurse will work closely with the principal investigator for the respective studies, staff from the ovarian trials team, the biobank, and laboratory staff. An important aspect of the job will be liaising with medical and nursing staff from both gynaecological oncology and other departments within the hospital.
The role responsibilities will include identification and recruitment of eligible patients and healthy donors for tissue donation studies. This will involve discussing the studies with patients and relatives.
- Sample collection including blood, tissue and plasma
- Collecting study data, including family history and writing pedigrees.
- The planning, set-up, and running of local trials.
- Providing on-going information, support and care to research participants in relation to the study
Applicants must be NMC registered. They should have excellent organisational and communication skills and have a demonstrable ability to work with clinical staff and patients. Experience of gynaecology or oncology is desirable.

This appointment requires an Honorary Research Contract. This is an integrated appointment between the University and the relevant NHS Trust/Body ("NHS Trust"). You will therefore also be issued with an Honorary Research Contract by the NHS Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated, and vice versa.
