Research Associate on Synthesis & Engineering of colloidal Quantum Dots (cQDs) for Quantum Dot Display/Device Technology x 2 (Fixed Term)


A position exists, for a Research Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on synthesis and engineering of colloidal quantum dots (cQDs) for Quantum Dot Display Technology.

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are the design and the synthesis of the QD materials for their opto-electronic devices (QD-LED). This work will also involve a fundamental analysis and characterization of the materials, device fabrication, and viable integration technology including micro/nano-electronics fabrications.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are as follows: - Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science.
- Direct experience and extensive knowledge on colloidal synthesis of Cd-free QDs with red, green, and blue colour, synthesis of QD, strategies of surface functionalisation for air stability of QD in solution/film, or large scale synthesis technique of QD per day.
- Good communication skills with both academic and industrial partners, other research partners.
- Experience of delivering industrial projects and coordinating research teams, organising and reporting to project review meetings, and managing timely delivery of results according to the agreed work plan.
- Experience of managing own and the workload of others, sticking to deadlines and the ability to constantly update knowledge.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD.

Salary Ranges: Research Associate: £32,816 - £40,322

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 4 March 2022 in the first instance.
