Following a generous grant to the University from the Philomathia Foundation, the Department of Social Anthropology is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, three-year Research Associate position in the ethics of technology, to begin no later than 1 October 2020. The Department is seeking an individual with an exceptional academic record and the potential to make a significant contribution to the discipline. This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant and growing Department at Cambridge.
The post holder will be expected to manage their own research independently but also to contribute to the joint activities of the Centre and the Department. They will be responsible, in consultation with the Centre Directors, for the planning of the research, carrying out data collection (including field research), analysing data, as well as the writing and editing of research publications. The post holder will be required to contribute to seminars, conferences and workshops organised and supported by those involved in the Centre and the wider Department.
The applicants will have, or be about to be awarded, a PhD in a relevant field. They will have experience of carrying out fieldwork. They will also have an excellent command of written and spoken English. Initiative, motivation, effective teamwork and liaison with other team members and collaborators in the UK and abroad are crucial to the role.
