Teaching Associate (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a Teaching Associate position for a fixed-term of 12 months in association with a Leverhulme-funded project about the histories and geographies of climate change. The successful candidate will be based in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science (HPS) and teach courses in the history of science and technology, and the history of the climate sciences in particular.

We seek a Teaching Associate who can contribute to research project aims while Staley and Schaffer are on research leave. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the lecturing, supervising, examination and administration of courses for both undergraduate and graduate students in the Department. The candidate should be prepared to deliver lectures and supervise written work on a broad range of topics in the history of science and technology, and in particular to teach a Third Year undergraduate course on Climate change and a Masters lecture and seminar on some aspect of the history of the climate sciences. The position will start on 1 September 2020, and will include an initial 3-month probation period.

The successful candidate will attend MCH project meetings, and will also have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of departmental and University activities, including departmental seminars in HPS and Geography, the 'geographies of knowledge' research group, and reading groups across the University.

Candidates who wish to be considered for the Research Associate position advertised concurrently should apply for that position in addition to this one; if successful in both the Research Associate position would then begin in September 2021 for a period of three years.
