The Centre on Strategic Philanthropy (CSP) is a departmental research and education centre based within Cambridge Judge Business School. CSP's primary objective is to further scholarship and the understanding of issues relating to philanthropy.
The primary purpose of the Executive Director's role will be to collaborate with the Centre's Academic Director to develop a clear intellectual agenda for the Centre around the phenomenon of philanthropy and to support the development of the research centre by implementing a strategic plan that establishes CSP as a leading institution for knowledge building within the philanthropy sector. The person in this role will make a significant contribution to the continued growth of the centre, and will play a central role in establishing CSP as a platform for research and engagement amongst leading global academic institutions and organisations. They will be charged with creating a set of activities that leads the CSP towards self-sustainability in the medium term.
Preferably educated to at least master's level or equivalent, the ideal candidate will have previous research training or an understanding of the research environment and an ability to understand academic ideas and translate these to a wider audience. You will have previous experience of developing a programme or equivalent that is a world leader in its field and a proven record of organisation, planning and decision-making. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite for this role along with the persona and credibility to develop and maintain effective working relations with people in senior leadership roles and from a multi-cultural environment, with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Extensive experience of working in the philanthropy sector is highly desirable.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
