Research Laboratory Technician (Part Time, Fixed Term)

We are seeking a technician to join the Development and Reproduction research group, led by Dr Sebastien Andreuzza. The role-holder will work on several research projects. They will carry out routine molecular biology and plant management tasks including sowing seeds, watering, containment, and seed harvesting; tissue collection for genomic studies; genetic crosses, DNA extractions, and PCR based genotyping; agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation, and transformant selection seed plating, and segregation analyses (using both antibiotics and fluorescence assays).

In addition, working with a Research Associate, they will ensure that critical plant lines and genetic crosses are maintained, propagated, and disposed of during periods of time when Dr Andreuzza is away conducting research in India.

The successful candidate will be educated to A-level, NVQ level 3, or an equivalent level of practical experience. They will have experience of laboratory technician/biological scientific research work, be able to work to a high degree of precision and accuracy, and demonstrate excellent IT and communication skills.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
