Applications are invited for two University Lectureships in the broad area of Machine Learning and/or Computer Vision. The successful candidate will join the Information Engineering Division which includes the Computational and Biological Learning Laboratory and the Machine Intelligence Laboratory. The candidate will lead a research programme in one or more of the following areas: Machine Learning, Decision Making, and Computer Vision.
We encourage applicants who will strengthen our current research activities in probabilistic machine learning, reinforcement learning, supervised and unsupervised learning, object recognition and detection, segmentation, tracking, and all aspects of machine intelligence.
These positions have been funded in part by a generous contribution from Toyota Motor Corporation. The successful applicants will have the opportunity and resources to work with Toyota on rich real-world data modelling, prediction, and decision-making problems. We will give priority to candidates who are well placed to do this.
The candidate will contribute to the Division's teaching activities including those associated with the Machine Learning and Machine Intelligence MPhil programme and the teaching of Information Engineering to undergraduate students.
In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a supplement to the salary range stated for this role of up to 12.5% / £6576 for a five year period. Any such supplement would be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable history of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.
