Student Experience and Communications Manager [Temporary/Secondment Cover]


Applications are invited for the post of Student Experience and Communications Manager within the Education Division of the Office of the School of Clinical Medicine.

This role is an exciting opportunity to manage the communications strategy and the direction and implementation of communication activities for the clinical medical course. The role holder will play a critical part in enhancing student satisfaction and positively promoting the course to prospective students and others outside the University. The role will ensure the effective implementation of the multi-channel communications strategy on behalf of the undergraduate education sections of the Clinical School, both for internal and external stakeholders.

The role holder will work closely with senior Clinical and Academic colleagues in the School to ensure appropriate development of these strategies. The role includes responsibility for designing systems, problem solving, and overseeing implementation of communication enhancements and feedback. The remit encompasses communications in a variety of formats including email, website, intranet, and the clinical student Virtual Learning Environment (MedEd). The role is also outward-facing and requires liaison with regional Hospital Trusts, which take students on placement, in order to be able to work towards consistency of excellent student experience across all locations.

The successful candidate will have a degree and will have the following experience; managing websites and editing content; working with students in a further or higher education context; working independently and flexibly; meeting challenging deadlines; working with a broad range of communications disciplines; and communicating complex information to a diverse audience. They will have excellent planning, organisational and time management skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. They will have excellent IT skills and the ability to use web content management systems, as well as the potential to pick up new IT systems rapidly. They will be able to assimilate information quickly, and present ideas and information with clarity and confidence; and diplomacy, discretion and tact.

Fixed-term until 10th October 2021, or the return of the post-holder, whichever is the earliest.
