We are looking for a Software Engineer/IT specialist to support the research of Dr Albert Cardona, whose lab is interested in the basis of behavior in neuronal circuits; it will also involve work on open source tools used in many labs around the world. The role holder will provide a technical lead for IT provision which will further enhance the capabilities of the research group as well as managing the Group's infrastructure services, network and website.
You should have a neuroscience background with first or second degree in a relevant subject e.g. neuroscience + software engineering experience, or computer science + neuroscience experience. Other skills required include:
- Developing, deploying and administrating single-page webapps
- Developing software packages from scratch both for internal use and open source release
- Contributing to large-scale software projects
- Producing text and figures for publication
- Reconstructing neuronal arbors
- Image segmentation and object detection in volumetric microscopy data
