The School of Technology is one of the six School structures within the University of Cambridge. We are comprised of four departments and one Institution which are all involved in world-leading research: the Department of Engineering; the Judge Business School; the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology; the Department of Computer Science and Technology; and the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
The strategic vision of the Head of the School of Technology aims to improve research grant income and application success rates across the departments in the School. In light of this, a new role of Research Strategy Facilitator has been created to support the Deputy Head of School responsible for strategy and research. The role-holder will be a key administrative lead supporting the development of School-wide polices and initiatives in connection with the School's research strategy.
We are looking for someone with a track record of working as a facilitator. You will be able to demonstrate the necessary communication and coordination skills to support the development of a research strategy in the School. You will be highly motivated, with excellent project management skills and ideally with knowledge of the research environment including funding, ethics and accessibility of research outcomes in the HE Sector. In addition, you will have experience of designing and managing effective systems and processes, along with excellent IT skills and proficiency in writing, formatting and presenting reports based on a variety of data sources.
You will be used to working across different groups and be able to communicate and engage effectively with all stakeholders including academics, departmental research support administrators, the University central Research Office and others.
You will be comfortable managing a varied workload which will also on occasion include other tasks appropriate to the role.
Previous experience of managing a research grant would be desirable.
Fixed-term: This is a fixed term position until 29 September 2023.
