Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term) Full time or 0.8 FTE

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cognitive Neuroscience (Full-time/0.8 FTE) to work on a project investigating object recognition in different environments.

The person appointed will work on the project, led by Dr Alex Clarke, that will combine different neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, MEG, EEG) with computational models to determine how expectations generated by our environments change the dynamics of object recognition. The person appointed will be responsible for developing, collecting and analysing neuroimaging data across modalities, writing up the work for publication and presentations, as well as assisting the PI in administrative duties. The role will also involve training and other career development activities, as deemed appropriate.

Applicants should have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science or relevant discipline (Research Associate) or are in the process of submitting their thesis (Research Assistant). Previous experience in Neuroimaging (fMRI, MEG, EEG) study design, data collection and analysis are essential, and experience with multiple methods is desirable. Knowledge in object recognition, semantic memory or spatial navigation is desirable, as is an interest in multivariate data analysis methods. Candidates should be proficient in computer programming (e.g. using Matlab or Python), and evidence of using advanced data analysis skills is desirable. Experience with virtual/augmented reality applications is also desirable. It is essential that the post holder is self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team. They must have excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills.
