The department of Psychiatry is looking to recruit a Senior Finance Coordinator who will be responsible for overseeing all financial activity in the department, including research grant activity, general ledger and accounts administration.
This is a varied and interesting role involving liaison with a wide variety of staff at all levels. In particular you will assist senior academics, the Business & Operations Manager and Head of Department for the purposes of providing information, planning and management on all financial matters relating to the department.
You will be a first point of contact with regard to the department's finances, which at any one time has around 120 active research grants with income in the region of £6 million+ annually, numerous general and donation accounts, as well as core budgets. Funding streams are wide and diverse, ranging from University chest money to foundations, charities, business, research councils as well as different sources of funding from the NHS and Trusts. You will establish close working relationships with the University Research Office, Clinical School and central finance teams as well as liaise and negotiate with external funding providers and NHS Trusts.
A first degree and/or accountancy qualification together with experience in financial operations and planning is required. You will also possess proven organisational and communication skills with the ability to clearly present and explain complex information.
