Applications are invited for an exciting new role in advanced microscopy development at the Cambridge Advanced Imaging Centre (CAIC). CAIC, led by Dr Kevin O'Holleran, develops advanced bioimaging capability in a highly collaborative environment with end-users in the School of Biological Sciences. The role will be essential for delivering an advanced photo-manipulation microscope capable of cutting-edge optogenetics and photo-ablation experiments whilst also delivering super-resolution capability.
Candidates should have experience in optical system design and implementation, including advanced beam shaping with Spatial Light Modulators. Experience in developing and applying the super-resolution techniques such as Single Molecule Localisation Microscopy and Structured Illumination Microscopy is also highly desirable.
Applicants must hold a PhD (or about to obtain a PhD) in a relevant subject, have excellent knowledge of optical physics and experience working in interdisciplinary environments. Experience in programming in LabVIEW, Matlab and Python will be advantageous.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
