The Hannon laboratory at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (part of the University of Cambridge) is seeking to hire a dedicated Research Assistant to join a small team of scientists studying the role of Piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) in transposon silencing.
Our laboratory has a long-standing interest in RNA biology and cancer research, and a history of developing new tools to address cutting-edge questions in these fields. This role will be part of a team that uses biochemistry, imaging, high-throughput methods (RNAseq, ChIPseq, proteomics) and computational approaches in various Drosophila models to understand the molecular mechanisms of piRNA-guided transposon control.
We are looking to recruit a competent individual with excellent laboratory skills in biochemistry and molecular biology. Additional experience with tissue culture, fly genetics and husbandry, microscopy or bioinformatics would be advantageous. The successful candidate should show initiative and independent thinking, possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
Applicants should have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant discipline as well as a reasonable amount of practical lab experience.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 year in the first instance.
