Working as part of a small finance team under the Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for day to day management of the departmental finances. These duties include dealing with a range of queries both internal and external to the University, authorising invoices and expense claims in accordance with the University's Finance policies and procedures, communicating with the Accounts Manager and research staff on a regular basis and any other additional administrative requests.
The core departmental staff provide a range of services and support throughout the department of which services must be recharged. Recharging will be managed, monitored and invoiced by you.
You will also provide support and guidance to staff and students wishing to submit proposals to sponsors for research grant funding via the University's costing tool (and sponsor submission portals) and be able to provide advice based on grant application type and sponsor.
Applicants should possess competent computer skills and be proficient in the use of computerised accounting systems. The ability to be able to analyse large amounts of data in Microsoft Excel is essential.
Knowledge of research grants, general ledger accounts and experience of Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS) and Cambridge University Costing Tool (X5) would be desirable.
