We are seeking to appoint an experienced administrator to provide temporary cover during the maternity leave of the Mathematics Graduate Office Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to manage and coordinate all functions of the Faculty of Mathematics Graduate Office. There is a small administrative team (4 staff, 3.1FTE) providing support in all functions and the role-holder will be responsible for the line management of the team.
The Mathematics Graduate Office supports the two Mathematics Departments of the University of Cambridge (the Department of Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics and the Department of Pure Mathematics & Mathematical Statistics). The successful candidate will work closely with the Secretary of the Degree Committee of the Faculty of Mathematics, the academic staff associated with postgraduate matters, and the two Departmental Administrators.
The appointee should have experience in supervising a team, excellent organisational, administrative, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, along with the ability to build and maintain co-operative relationships at all levels. They should enjoy working in a team environment and possess the skills needed to interact with fellow administrators, academics and postgraduate students (both current and prospective). Experience of higher education administration and graduate admissions would be an advantage.
This post is fixed-term for up to 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
