Departmental Safety Coordinator


Applications are invited for the post of Departmental Safety Coordinator based at the Department of Engineering's main site in Trumpington Street.

Reporting to the Departmental Health and Safety Manager, you will play a key role in the department. You will be the first point of contact for Departmental Safety matters and implement and advise on University Health and Safety policy, promote best practice, investigate and respond to accidents, incidents and health conditions. You will maintain procedures, systems, and local arrangements for health and safety across the Department and arrange Health and Safety training. You will be responsible for monitoring Environmental Services within the department, and will be the Disability Liaison Officer for the department.

You will be educated to degree/level 6 vocational qualification or have an equivalent level of practical experience, and have/be working towards a professional safety qualification, e.g. NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma. You will have excellent communication skills with comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation. Experience of working with in at least one of the following: chemical safety, environmental issues and hazardous waste management would be an advantage.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance. assessment.
