We are seeking two experienced Java developers to join our Agile development team, to deliver a number of high-profile systems of strategic importance to the University. Supported by the team, you will work directly with stakeholders in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment, to define and deliver complex yet easy-to-use and reliable systems. Collaboration throughout gives flexibility for all team members to lead in their own domains, effectively harnessing everyone's diverse skills to produce the best possible outcome. This promises to be a stimulating, challenging and rewarding experience.
The successful applicants will aim high, have a grasp of sound software architecture, demonstrable experience in building modern Java web applications, and expertise in a good number of the following areas: - Ample experience of core Java - Flexible Agile mind-set - Excellent communication skills - Grounding in DevOps culture and practice - Good understanding of relational databases, SQL, JPA, Hibernate or similar - Proven ability to create user-centred web apps using Spring MVC, JSF or similar frameworks - Experience integrating systems using, for example, REST or JMS - Analysis, modelling and design of systems - Exposure to continuous integration, TDD - A fervent interest in current technological trends
