Job Opportunities

Researcher Developer (Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences)

We are looking for a Researcher Developer to join the Researcher Development Programme [RDP], with particular responsibility for doctoral students in the School of Arts & Humanities and the School of the Humanities & Social Sciences. The role involves working with researchers, academics, administrative, and support services staff in order to provide world-class programmes of personal and professional development, on topics such as personal effectiveness, communication, writing, collaboration, and leadership. Formats include bite-sized workshops, large-scale events, and a growing portfolio of online learning modules.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at an important time of change. RDP has recently transferred to Education Services, in tandem with the formal launch of the Cambridge Centre for Teaching & Learning. In the next few months, we will move to a brand-new, purpose-built facility right in the heart of Cambridge, where a range of educational support units will be co-located for the first time. We are looking for a positive, growth-minded person to play a key part in enhancing our existing offer, shaping our future programmes, and building collaborations which will enable us to make the most of the opportunities afforded by our move. In addition, both humanities Schools have approved an ambitious framework for RD, and you will be an important agent in helping to implement that strategy.

We are looking for an individual who can put together outstanding personal and professional programmes which are intellectually rigorous, fit for purpose, and deliverable at scale. Particular expertise in writing skills and/or instructional design would be highly desirable. A degree in a relevant discipline is essential, and a PhD or equivalent research experience would be an asset. You will be experienced at forging relationships with diverse stakeholders and adept at communicating persuasively. Because your work spans the central RDP offer and the 'local' provision of the two Schools, you will be comfortable switching between tasks and managing multiple priorities.
