Clinical Academic Programme Manager [Temporary Cover] (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Academic Programme Manager in the Graduate and Clinical Academic Training Section in the School of Clinical Medicine.

The role is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of the Clinical Academic programmes offered by the University of Cambridge, in partnership with the Health Education East of England Office and Cambridge University Hospital Trust. The 3 main clinical academic programmes managed by the role are the: Academic Foundation Programme, Academic Clinical Fellowships and Clinical Lectureships. There are typically close to 200 clinical academic trainees at any time, with around 70 new trainees joining these schemes each year.

This is a very varied and interesting role that covers a wide range of different activities and tasks to support the University's clinical academic programmes. These include overseeing trainee recruitment processes, acting as Secretary for the programme's working groups, liaising with programme directors on bid submissions, monitoring finance, developing information and support for trainees, updating website pages and twitter feeds and delivering events.

The role requires effective administration skills to manage the complex and variable workload. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as a key success factor in the role is building and maintaining good working relationships between the programme partners, external funders and colleagues at all levels within the University and partner organisations.

Good numeracy skills plus an attention to detail are essential and knowledge of the NHS, NHS staffing or higher education would be useful. The role also has line management responsibility for one member of staff who also provides support for the clinical academic programmes so experience of line management is desirable.

The role is full time but applications are welcome from those who are interested in job sharing or working flexibly. The role is also open to those seeking a secondment opportunity.

This post is fixed term until 31st July 2020 or the return of the postholder, whichever is the earliest.
